Recently, the “morning routine” and “millionaire mindset” have been two of the most widely discussed topics in self help and revolutionizing the self. Wake up at 5am, drink a gallon of water, do your morning workout, make your bed, eat your eggs, make your to do list. Honestly, every time I read on habits and routines, it seems simple. Yet, I am inconsistent as shit. I’ll do an amazing morning routine for 3 days, and then FLOP. Every single time. My reset rate varies, too. Sometimes, it takes me 1 day to reset and sometimes it takes me 2 weeks.
I don’t want to be in this loop anymore. Why is my morning routine so inconsistent? Start by understanding who and how others ARE consistent. My observation: YouTubers, productivity influencers, millionaires, and aspiring millionaires.
- They have something to do in the morning that they actually like to do
-record content, brand & sponsorship deliverables, working out, trading, business meetings, yoga, writing, etc.) - Others are holding them accountable
-followers, employees, partnerships, investors, etc. - They profit from demonstrating consistency
-their followers invest in joining their “online tribe” which makes brands, corporations, and investors trust you (influencer currency) - Their routine itself brings them revenue
-the process of recording it, or the process of actually being a morning person brings clarity and this clarity brings more opportunity for money
When I realized that youtubers and productivity/lifestyle influencers found a way to monetize doing what is simply human, I realized how damn smart that is. Plus, you’re having fun by treating your everyday life routine as an event and priority.
When you know that doing something will bring you an immediate reward, you are more prone to do it. Simple. Please watch Lydia’s video as an example of how to do this, but also the perks of “romanticizing” and profiting from your morning routine.
My response to this: I stared doing lifestyle mini vlogs on TikTok. I’m not suggesting this as the only solution, but I will say this: if you find a way to immediately reward your morning routine, you will be more prone to follow it and be consistent to it. I promise you will make it a priority if recording this routine every morning brings any of the following: followers, influence, sponsorships, dollars, or opportunity.
Our problem is our need for immediate reward. I understand that the more reasonable route is to work on the need to immediate reward, but that’s harder. I’ve read so many self help books that talk about working on your urges, patience, desires, and feedback system. Yet, I sit here mostly motivated by feelings of satisfaction and joy. Oh well. How about we use our humanity in our favor?
Morning routines & looking productive -> inspires others -> builds influence -> immediate reward of influence -> encourages me to do it more -> builds a follower base -> brings a sponsorship -> continues to do it -> brings dollars.
This is why media influencers are successful. They have monetized something that is GOOD for them, which has held them with consistency and accountability. Genius.
What do you like? Start there and romanticize it.
